The Lusitania: A Presentation by Gregory Kinal

Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 7:00 PM. Registration begins April 25. Call 716-741-2650 to register.

Join us for a powerful presentation on the sinking of an ocean liner that influenced the United States' involvement in World War I. The discussion will cover a Western New York connection, including Elbert Hubbard, the founder of the Roycroft artisan community, who lost his life in the tragedy.

The RMS Lusitania, a British ocean liner, was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-20 on May 7, 1915, marking it a significant event in World War I. The attack resulted in the deaths of 128 American civilians, shifting American sentiment against Germany and marking a pivotal moment in the war.

The United States did not enter the conflict until April 1917.
