Hardly a day goes by that we are not bombarded by statistics. Clever advertisers and policy advocates use them to sell us something or get us to back a policy they are pushing. Oftentimes the statistics are employed to deceive us. This course presents a number of examples and suggests ways to detect the inappropriate use of statistics so that, to paraphrase The Who, “we don’t get fooled again.” Instructor: Kevin R.
