Family History Day In-Person
The Grosvenor Room, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library’s Special Collections Department is planning its 2nd annual Family History Day event on May 18th from 1:00-3:30 pm at the Central Library, 1 Lafayette Square. This event is free and open to anyone interested in learning about organizations and resources that further genealogical research! Plans include presentations on Buffalo’s streets and utilizing local atlases in your family history research, a “Secrets of the Stacks” tour of the Central Library, a panel discussion and Q & A with local genealogists, tabling by local genealogy/ heritage organizations, and more.

Speakers:
Angela Keppel – creator of the Discovering Buffalo, One Street at a Time blog which uncovers the stories behind the names of Buffalo
streets.
Jeanette Sheliga – a professional genealogist will present on utilizing Sanborn Atlas’ for Genealogy Research
Panel/Q&A:
Will feature volunteers from Local Organizations talking about their work, resources, interesting stories, and breakthroughs
Secrets of the Stacks tour -- explore the hidden parts of the library with the Grosvenor Room's very own genealogy specialist, Rhonda Hoffman
