Gaitrie Subryan is a choreographer, performer, educator, and cultural advocate blending tradition and innovation in the performing arts. Born in Guyana and raised in the Bronx, her Indo-Caribbean heritage shapes her vision. As Founder and Artistic Director of Devi Performing Arts, she celebrates Indian dance while fostering cross-cultural dialogue.

Her work explores identity, resilience, and community. Find Your Beat, premiered at Shea’s 710 Theatre with support from Arts Services Inc., NYSCA, and the Mellon Foundation, spotlights Indo-Caribbean narratives and is now being developed for touring.
Trained in Kathak under Guru Jayeeta Dutta, she also studies Bharatanatyam, Jazz, Contemporary, Folk, and Modern dance, integrating yoga and mindfulness into her teaching. A SPARK and IGNITE Award recipient, her creative works has been supported by Creatives Rebuild New York, Art Services Inc., NYSCA, and the Empire State Create Grant.
Beyond the stage, Gaitrie advocates for social justice. In 2023, she premiered Speak Up, Speak Out, a short film on domestic violence. She mentors emerging artists and collaborates with institutions like Young Audiences of WNY and Shea’s Performing Arts Center. Through Devi Performing Arts, she continues to inspire students, using dance as a tool for storytelling, empowerment, and cultural connection.
