Cello Concert
The Bowed Revolution is a 60-minute multimedia lecture-performance that traces the evolution of bowed string instruments—from the ancient Middle Eastern rebab, to the viola da gamba, to the birth of the modern cello, and finally to today’s cutting-edge electric cello.
Through live performance, projected visuals, and storytelling, Alex Cousins guides the audience through this transformation—highlighting how the cello has remained one of the most expressive, emotionally resonant instruments in history, even as it continues to evolve. Musical examples from each era bring the story to life.
