University Express - Dr. Roswell Park (1852-1914), Renaissance Man

"Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center was founded by a remarkable surgeon and educator. He was to have a lasting legacy in the practice of medicine in Buffalo and beyond through his many years of teaching at the University of Buffalo Medical School and his innovative approach to the treatment of cancer patients and commitment to better understanding the causes and progression of cancer. He was also a leading citizen of Buffalo, a poet, a musician and an athlete deeply involved in the community’s civic life, as well as the Medical Director of the 1901 Pan-American Exposition and attending physician to the mortally wounded President William McKinley, who was shot while visiting the exposition. Learn about the rich and full life of this brilliant man as well as his many contributions to his adopted city and to the advancement of cancer research and treatment nationally and internationally." - University Express
