Buffalo Presidential Center program: "Mark Twain, His Presidents & Buffalo"

Buffalo Presidential Center program: "Mark Twain, His Presidents & Buffalo" In-Person

Presented by eminent local Twain scholar, author and Emeritus Professor of English, SUNY Buffalo State College, Dr. Thomas J. Reigstad, this illustrated presentation will share entertaining anecdotes about Twain's personal encounters with two Presidents -- Millard Fillmore and Ulysses S. Grant -- and future President Grover Cleveland, while he lived and worked in Buffalo as a journalist from 1869 to 1871. The talk will trace Twain's continuing association with Grant and Cleveland long after he left Buffalo. Also covered will be Twain's late career political platforms that shaped his dim view of William McKinley and his love-hate personal and professional relationship with Theodore Roosevelt, two Presidents with a strong connection to Buffalo.

Presented by the Buffalo Presidential Center. Free and open to the public.
